Ben Moes: Building People, Not Just Products
For years, Ben Moes steered clear of service-based work on purpose.
In his own words: "your product is people." Selling services, to him, felt like a never-ending job interview - one where you're always proving your worth, never quite done closing the sale.
So he built his career the traditional corporate way instead, staying well clear of the very thing he'd eventually build a company around.
The Pivot He Didn't Choose
COVID hit. Ben was employee #1 at a venture-backed startup - the kind of role you take because you believe in what's being built. He watched the funding disappear in real time, and just like that, he was out of work. Consulting became the practical answer. It paid the bills while he figured out what came next. But something happened in that in-between season that Ben hadn't planned for: consulting slowly turned into something more.
The Season Nobody Talks About
Building alone, without a team or a clear map forward, brought a kind of loneliness Ben hadn't expected - and a stretch of time where he genuinely felt directionless. It's the part of the founder story that rarely makes it into a LinkedIn post: the quiet, disorienting middle, before there's a company name or a clear mission to point to.
It was time spent in prayer - not a strategy session, not a pivot meeting - that finally surfaced Ben's "why." Not just to build products. To build people. And to help others chase their own entrepreneurial dreams the way he was chasing his.
Moetion Technologies: The Conviction in Practice
That conviction became Moetion Technologies - a company still driven today by the belief that growing people and growing a business go hand in hand. It's the same instinct that once made Ben avoid service work altogether, now redeemed into the whole reason his company exists: if your product really is people, then building the business and building the people inside it can't be two separate jobs. They're the same job.
