Russ Climie: The Real Superpower Isn't the Photo
Russ Climie didn't set out to become a photographer.
He started college on a path toward education, but the repetition of the profession never sat right with him. The turn came somewhere he wasn't looking for it: a trip to Spain, where he got handed the informal title of "group photographer."
That's where Russ discovered his love of capturing moments and telling stories visually - not in a classroom, but behind a lens he'd picked up almost by accident.
Twenty-Two Years Behind the Camera
What followed was 22 years behind the camera, including 15 spent in the wedding industry. For a long time, that was the work - until it started to feel like a "monoculture," as Russ describes it: the same wedding, just different people. It's an honest way to describe what happens when a craft you love starts to feel like repetition all over again, the very thing that pushed him away from education in the first place.
The Harder Call
Russ has been walking with Christ since he was 20, and that faith is what shaped the next turn. As he sensed a growing gap between his beliefs and the direction of the industry he was serving, he faced a choice most people avoid: stay comfortable, or make the harder call to move on. He chose to move on.
That's not a small thing. Twenty-two years is a long time to build a name, a client base, a way of making a living. Walking away from that because of a conviction, rather than a business plan, is exactly the kind of decision that doesn't show up on a resume - but it's the decision that actually defines a redemptive entrepreneur.
Tiberius Images: The Conviction Behind the Camera
Today, through Tiberius Images, Russ builds his business around the same conviction that first got him behind a camera all those years ago in Spain: that his real superpower isn't the photo. It's helping people feel confident, comfortable, and truly seen. The camera is still the tool. But the work, as Russ understands it, was never really about the image - it's about the person standing in front of the lens.
